The VA’s myhealthevet “secure” messaging is not secure.

After having been a call girl in the 90s, I hadn’t had sex with a man for twenty years.

I had been discussing this, along with other things, with my VA therapist.

I wrote her,(therapist), an email, expressing my joy and delight in having broken my fast with a very hunky guy, buff, and possessing an impressive *member*.

I used one, single, colorful term in describing this personal breakthrough. I thought that I was speaking directly to a woman who had been listening to my most personal business for years, and in whom I had a lot of trust.

I received an email, from an office-person of some sort, calling me out for “offensive language”.

My email was sent, on a supposedly secure system, directly to my therapist, and meant to be a private, secure communication. I hadn’t directed any kind of ire or disrespect towards the VA, or anyone who works there, or anyone else, for that matter. I was expressing joy and excitement at a very personal breakthrough.

My “secure” email to my personal psychological therapist was read by an office drone, who imperiously decided to call me out, on the wording of a communication that she should not have ever seen.

Careful, my fellow veterans, the pearl-clutching-busybodies are everywhere.

Your “myhealthevet” emails to your provider are not secure! Apparently, anyone who works there, and has the password, can read them.
