The first thing to do is learn mindfulness meditation from a teacher.

Thick Nhat Hanh, on youtube. Pema Chodron and Venerable Thubten Chodron are nuns who are great.

Tibetan Buddhism goes well with a secular philosophy.

The very first thing to do is learn to meditate. Thich Nhat Hanh is my favorite for that. If you have trouble understanding him, there’s a British monk called Thubten Chodron who’s also very good.(not to be confused with “Venerable Thubten Chodron”. She’s the Abbess of Sravasti Abbey in california.)

It’s really amazing the peace and comfort, self-love and compassion for others that you will find.

Just have to actually do it.
