My favorite teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh on YouTube, explains it all quite nicely.

He passed away recently, but we are blessed with many recordings of his Dharma talks.

(Note; Master Thay did not pass away. He had a stroke, at the age of 94, can no longer speak, and has weakness in his right side, but he walks a bit every day. His carers report that his mind is as sharp as ever.)

Your essay further illustrates to me that certain universal truths are, throughout history, arrived at by many.
