Recovery of early childhood memories? Unusually rare and never very accurate.
Revisional memory is what's normal.
However, as per Dr Gabor Maté and Dr Nadine Burke Harris, to name two, as accurate an early childhood history as can be managed, ideally from multiple sources such as parents and older siblings can be invaluable.
A trauma that is effectively impossible to retrieve as a conscious memory can have a tremendous effect on a growing brain that is constantly making new connections, deep, basic connections that last a lifetime.
A broken bond, or even a trauma bond in an infant will effect the person throughout their life, though there's no chance of a conscious memory.
Without independent verification of childhood trauma, it's a very sticky wicket indeed.
Thank you for your work.
