Perhaps it’s my age, or the family I grew up in, but when anyone asks someone else out, for any reason, the person doing the asking is offering to pay, unless other factors are discussed, and other arrangements, are made on the spot.

The way that I was raised, it’s simply understood. Discussing the “issue” is crass, and rather rude.

If who pays is an issue, after the invitation has been extended, and the activity is at an end, I really have no further interest. I’ll happily pay, just to end it and escape.

Manners are important to me.
