No one is in “full control” of another’s development.

Doctors used to say that when they “made" an intersex baby “female”. “Just raise the child as a girl and she’ll be fine”. Often that worked out just fine. Just as often, it was a disaster.

Only the individual can truly know who or what they are. Trying to change them to suit your whims only compounds the trouble for them. It’s cruel to do that. Very cruel.
