I “detransitioned” in 2003 because my daughter wanted to move from CA to NC to live with me. She was 14. It’s very sad to think about, but true, that she, and the rest of my family,(except my mother), obviously greatly prefered me to be a suicidally depressed drunken, drug-addled 'man’, rather than a clean and sober, happy, confident woman. Looking back, from the perspective of 60 years of experience and learning, I now see the selfish fear that motivated them.

My daughter once said to me, “I don’t like “Louise”. She’s a bitch!”

As my real self, I was a good parent, as opposed to a drunken fool who could be easily manipulated or simply ignored…
