“How do you not get angry with people you hate?”

I take a deep belly breath and remind myself that they are in some kind of emotional pain. Because of that they are sick, miserable, soul sick. Lashing out at others is a strategy that they have learned for easing the internal pressure on themselves. The problem with that strategy is that the relief is only moderate, and very short term. The longer term consequences end up making their life more miserable, but they can't see it. It's like being addicted to a substance, like alcohol or some other drug.
