Asked of me on Quora- 20 Feb, 2022.

“How do you explain gender dysphoria to a cis person?”

It’s like being forced to wear your shoes on the wrong feet. Not that hard to put them on the proper feet, the ones that don’t hurt, but people insist. Doesn’t matter that they feel better to you on the “wrong” feet, you *must* wear them on the same side as everyone else and no one will believe you when you tell them how much it hurts. They keep trying to help you learn how to wear them on the same sides that they do, but all the while you know the easiest way to eliminate the pain. It’s a matter of how much pain you can bear until you just can’t take it anymore.
You can be in pain for the rest of your life, pretending to be like the others, meanwhile suffering 24/7 agony and pretending that it doesn’t hurt.
Or… you can get fed up and say “*uck you! I’m putting them on the feet that don’t hurt, whether you like it or not!”
That’s when you find out who *really* loves you.
